Q&A | Get to Know Lou

Interior Designer Louise Rogers of No.28 Interiors, Hereford

Q&A | Get to Know Lou

Louise Rogers (Lou) is No.28’s founder, interior designer and along with a small team, keeps everything at the studio and shop running smoothly. From being your first point of contact, to helping you decide your scheme to fitting curtains, she’s a woman of many talents and her clients always come first. But today, the spotlight is on her…

How did you get into what you do?

I had a background of 15 years in independent fashion retail working in Edinburgh and upon returning to my home county (the beautiful Herefordshire) with my young family, I started working with a local interior designer and fell in love with the industry.

How long have you been working in interiors/design?

I have been working in interiors now for 14 years and set up my studio in 2010. Time flies!

What inspires your work?

I love the countryside of Herefordshire (it’s definitely under estimated) and draw inspiration from this as the majority of my clients are within this area. I love combining old and new, I adore colour – something many are afraid of – along with classic patterns and textures.

What about No.28 is unique?

It’s very much a family run business. I offer a relaxed and friendly yet professional approach and will give my all, no matter the size of the project I am involved in. Details and creating a relationship with clients is everything.

What do you love about working in interiors/design?

I get to see some magical properties in Herefordshire that you would never know even exist. I feel honoured being let into peoples’ homes and it blows me away some of the properties I get to see. The people I get to work with are also a part of my job I adore; there are some pretty inspirational (and fabulous!) clients out there.

How would you describe your design style?

Old meets new with an eclectic yet timeless mix of pattern, colours and textures to bring classical looks bang up to date. Currently, I’m in love with Morris & Co. Ben Pentreath has recoloured some of their classic wallpapers and fabrics (take a peek here)… love love love. I’m also a sucker for anything by Colefax & Fowler or Lewis & Wood – they are both my ‘go to’ for achieving a dreamy, modern country setting.
